Mount Kackar and Mount Ararat Trek in 7 days

1st Day-  Erzurum – Yaylalar village
In the morning tranfer to the airport and fly to Erzurum is the hub of eastern Anatolia, and has been an important center of civilization for centuries because of its natural and geo strategic position. Drive to Yusufeli village close to Coruh river. Possibility to make a tour in the villa ge to see local life. Our minibus will take us to Yaylalar village wher the villagers did not change their life style for centuries. Overnight camp 2100 m

2nd Day – Yaylalar -Dilberduzu
We trek to through the main Kackar range. The scenery of the region is most impressive, green valleys lush with vegetation and rich with wild flowers. Continue trek to Dilberduzu. Today we pass the yaylas that the villagers inhabit during the summer in order to graze their flocks. On our way will visit the nomad’s camps and lunch will be taken in a local village. Fields of yellow line the streams that the trail follows to the camp site. The camp site is by a stream and has magnificent views of the steep snowcapped majestic mountains that surrounded it . (6 hrs.). Overnight camp.

3rd Day – Climbing summit of Mt.Kackar 3937 m
Free day to enjoy the scenery and unique setting, or for optional walks in the area. You may take the opportunity to ascend Mount Kackar (3937 m). The view at the top, however, offer a magnificent reward with a vista to the Caucasus and mount Ararat. Enroute , we pass the cold and refreshing Deniz lake. Return to camp of Dilberduzu (2600m). 8 h. Overnight at camp with all meals. Ascent 1337 m, descent 1337m.

4th Day – Dilberduzu-Yaylalar Yusufeli
We go to Hevek village where visit the local people and take our last picnic. On the way the scenery is spectacular and the magnificent wild flora is the gift of this days. From here we transfer to Yusufeli Village, is at the corner of Coruh river, passing by tea plantations into the mountains . Descent 500m. Overnight at pension.

5th Day – Yusufeli-Dogubeyazit
Continue driving to Dogubeyazit. Overnight at hotel.

6th Day – Trekking to first camp on Mount Ararat
We eat breakfast in hotel and than we load our all equipments to our minibus and we drive to Cevirme village or Eli village at 2200 m. There we stop and the luggages are loaded for the horses. We take our lunch-boxes and we start trekking to the 1. camp at 3350 m. Our trekking takes about 4-5 hours. In the 1. camp we drink tea and eat some sweets and we rest and wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

7th Day – Trekking to second camp 
We eat breakfast and after it we prepare our luggages and take our tents. The luggages are load for the horses. We take our lunch-boxes and we start trekking to the 2. camp at 4100 m. Our trekking takes about 4-5 hours. In the 2. camp we drink tea and eat some sweets and we rest and wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

8th Day – Trekking to the summit
We wake up at 1.00 and eat something. If weather is okey we start (about 2.00 o’clock) trekking in dark to the summit. We reach the summit of Ararat (5137 m amsl) after 4-7 hours. We back to 4100 meters for little break and we eat something. After that we prepare our luggages and take our tents. The luggages are load for the horses. We go down to the 1. camp. In the 1. camp we rest and wait for the dinner. Overnight in the tents.

9th Day – Descent from Ararat
We eat breakfast in 1. camp. Descent to Cevirme or Eli village. Drive to hotel in Dogubayazit. Overnight in hotel.

10th Day – Dogubeyazit-Van
Transfer to the airport in Van and fly home.
